The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India floated a consultation paper on playing an active role in monitoring the Indian television viewership. TAM Media Research is the sole player in the monitoring market for the last 10 years. TAM's CEO L V Krishnan says govt should start regulating all types of rating outputs like daily newspaper polls done via SMS or even TV polls during elections and not just TV TRPs. TAM is often criticised for its poor sample size, TRP system, etc.

Advertising on television continued to show momentum in May despite the surge in Covid-19 infections and the temporary suspension of the Indian Premier League (IPL), a high-impact television property. The data shared by the Broadcast Audience Research Council of India (BARC) on Thursday shows that advertising volumes in May were up 64 per cent year-on-year. However, there was a marginal dip sequentially, that is, in comparison to April 2021, when advertising had touched a record high owing to the start of the summer season and the return of the IPL to India after being held in the United Arab Emirates in 2020.

An Indian student was attacked and beaten till he fell unconscious by a gang in Melbourne's Central Business District in broad daylight. According to a news channel, Rajat Tyagi, a trainee pilot, was confronted as he left his apartment in Flinders Street on Sunday morning by five men. Tyagi, who hails from Delhi, said the gang surrounded him and beat him till he fell unconscious. Rajat hopes that the incident was captured on CCTV. He said he has heard no more from the police.
